About DGS Associates
After more than four decades as a design engineer in the microwave industry, Dan Swanson established DGS Associates in August, 2015. His experience includes high Q filters and multiplexers for commercial applications, broadband thin-film filters for EW systems and printed circuit board filters using standard surface mount components. Dan was an early adopter of commercial EM simulation software and began teaching EM simulation techniques in 1995. He later developed several courses devoted to microwave filter design. Dan is a recognized expert in filter design and in the efficient optimization of filter designs using EM simulation.
Dan Swanson received his BSEE from University of Illinois in 1976 and his MSEE from the University of Michigan in 1978.

Dan was elected a Fellow of the IEEE in 2000 and recently achieved Life Fellow status. He has served for many years on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques and the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters. He has served the IEEE MTT society in many different roles and is a member of Eta Kappa Nu. Dan has published numerous technical papers, given many workshop and short course presentations and holds two patents. He has been teaching courses on EM simulation and filter design in the US and Europe since 1995. Dan is the principle author of Microwave Circuit Modeling Using Electromagnetic Field Simulation, published by Artech House.
